Leonita Metaj

Hi, I’m Leonita Metaj. I study History at King’s College London and grew up in North West London. My journey in representing youth voices began in 2022 when I started consulting for various organisations, advocating for the idea that decisions affecting young people should always involve their input. I firmly believe that our systems and processes would function more effectively if they were designed with direct input from the people they aim to serve.

I’m particularly passionate about supporting young women and girls, as well as improving the education and policing sectors.

I joined The Switch Board because, as I approach the end of university, I’ve seen firsthand how the lack of opportunities in many work sectors leaves young people feeling overwhelmed. Tackling this issue is something I feel strongly about, and being part of an initiative that addresses this challenge is incredibly important to me.

What also drew me to the SwitchBoard was its focus on the impacts of social media. Social media plays such a central role in our lives, and it’s inspiring to see an organization dedicated to raising awareness and improving how we engage with it.

My goal for the future is to expand my consulting work and move it internationally, really pushing to implement these ideas across the world and to other nations so their systems can work in a cooperative way.

My favourite quote is:

‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together’ - African Proverb
